Job Description:

Provides outpatient mental health services to individuals, couples, and families, with a focus on treating clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and clinical interviews to evaluate psychological symptoms, functional impairments, and substance use history;

2. Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical

Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques;

3. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address mental health diagnoses, substance use issues, and psychosocial needs;

4. Facilitate psychoeducational group sessions focused on emotional regulation, adaptive coping skills, and recovery support;

5. Monitor and manage client risk through suicide and self-harm assessments, individualized safety planning, and ongoing clinical evaluation;

6. Administer and interpret standardized assessment tools such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, BDI, BAI, CAGE, AUDIT, and RIASI to inform treatment planning; and

7. Participate in weekly clinical case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment progress and adjust care plans as needed.

Requirements:

This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mental Health Counseling,

Counseling Psychology, Applied Psychology, Counseling, or a related field, plus 2 years of

experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Additionally, each of the following skills is required:

1. Proficiency in applying evidence-based treatment methods including CBT, MI, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapy;

2. Skilled in administering and interpreting clinical assessment tools such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, BDI, BAI, CAGE, AUDIT, and RIASI;

3. Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and their application in clinical practice;

and

4. Two years of experience working with clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders in an outpatient setting.

Must be a Licensed Counselor in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey.
