Intellectual Testing for School Applications

How does testing work? 

Our clinicians utilize the Wechsler Assessment for IQ testing. The version of the Wechsler test used (WISC-V or WPPSI-IV) depends strictly on the age of the child at the time of testing. Testing will be completed in person and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. 

Results will be sent from our clinic per the respective school guidelines after families have provided us with a signed release of information (provided by the school). 

Please note that this test can only be taken once in 12 months. 

What language is testing conducted in?

Test administration must be conducted in English per standardized Wechsler procedures and according to the schools. 

We have Mandarin-speaking clinicians who can assist with the general structure of an appointment. However, while a Mandarin-speaking clinician may be present and provide general assistance in Mandarin, the test itself will not be translated and must be conducted in English. 

How much does testing cost?

The fee for an IQ assessment for the purpose of school application is $850 out-of-pocket.

This fee includes the in-person test administration, phone feedback session, narrative report, and submission to the schools of choice. 

If applying to Nueva, Nueva has an Assessment Voucher Program for low-income families. If your family is participating in this program, please apply directly with Nueva and present your voucher to us prior to scheduling the appointment for testing.

Reduced fee testing based on low income is available. Please inquire if you require this option. 

When will the results/report be available? 

Results are typically available within a week of the testing session. Please let us know if you require a quicker turnaround time, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
